About the role:
Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Research and Advisory sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives. They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in-person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.
What you will do:
Client Engagement: Engage with clients daily through phone calls, videoconferences, stage presentations at Gartner events, and face-to-face meetings. Your role is to assist clients in navigating complex challenges and enhancing their performance through expert guidance.
Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research and analysis in your areas of expertise, focusing on clients’ key initiatives. Your work will inform and shape the strategic direction of organizations worldwide.
Content Creation: Produce high-quality, actionable research articles and notes that clarify client thinking and inspire executive action. Your written work will be a valuable resource for Gartner clients.
Thought Leadership: Stay ahead of developments and issues within your specified areas and adjacent fields. Your insights will contribute to Gartner's reputation as a leading authority in insider risk and security risk management.
Presentations and Conferences: Deliver compelling presentations at Gartner conferences globally, sharing your findings and insights with a wide audience. Your ability to communicate complex ideas effectively will be crucial.
What you will need:
Passion for the Topic: You should be excited about learning about cutting-edge practices in cyber risk management and about sharing your insight to help clients achieve their most critical priorities. Gartner analysts are recognized as industry experts, requiring comprehensive knowledge of markets, vendors, trends, and management practices
Technical Proficiency: A deep interest in cyber risk and security program management from the second-line perspective, is essential. Familiarity with cyber risk management related tools and cyber GRC software platforms, as well as knowledge about eGRC vendors is essential. Hands-on experience with one or more platforms is a plus.
Expertise in Cyber Risk Management Frameworks: You should have expert-level knowledge of cybersecurity risk management frameworks such as NIST 800-53, NIST CSF, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and FAIR quantitative risk analysis, and be able to explain these frameworks in the context of specific organizational needs. Experience in conducting cyber risk assessments is advantageous.
Experience Developing Risk Management Artefacts: A successful candidate has developed and implemented common risk management documents and artefacts such as cyber risk registers, risk appetite statements, and security policies.
Research and Insight Delivery: Proven experience in conducting original research and delivering impactful insights through published articles or written reports.
Continuous Improvement: The role requires staying abreast of the latest industry trends and emerging risks to ensure the client’s risk management strategies remain robust and effective.
Presentation Skills: Demonstrated experience in presenting to both public forums and one-on-one settings. Experience presenting to executive-level audiences is a plus.
Collaboration Skills: Gartner analysts work both as individuals and in an team concept. You should be disciplined and mature enough to execute research tasks and manage your time alone, but you should also be comfortable working on ad hoc teams, sharing your expertise with colleagues, and providing and accepting peer review on research products.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in cyber risk management or a related field.
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel, both regionally and globally, up to 10% of the time.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required. A Graduate degree is preferred.
